This morning Adam found out what he's been waiting to hear for the past 3 weeks, if he got the new job. He's been primed for it, moved to the first floor where the managers are, invited to special managers meetings, given a pda so he can keep up with whats going on at work, coming in on his days off to help lighten the workload. so between 9 and 10 this morning Adam goes into his bosses office to find out..did he get the job?...no. Adam helped create the system for which this job entailed managing. He "wowed" them in his interview. There were supposed to be 6 positions created in a temporary status for the next 6 months while they determined if this job was vital to the call center. 6 positions. Adam's boss told him this morning that Adam had the job, he had one of the postions for the past few weeks, until a couple of nights ago when someone in corporate decided they only needed 3 positions. Adam was number 4. His boss explained the situation, it was either cut the positions down, or the call center would not get the jobs at all and the new positions would be outsourced. So his boss cut 3 jobs to keep the position there. Apparently they were all judged on 30 different categories, and the scores were placed in a computer which ranked them all. Because of a computer, Adam was number 4, because of a computer, Adam didn't get the job. He did better than anyone else on his interview, knew the job better than most, but didn't get the job. On th upside, the job is still in temporary status, in 6 months they will decide if the job stays. if it does, everyone will have to interview again. adam will get another opportunity. also there are other management positions that may very well become available. but for now, he's back on the phones. he hasn't been on the phones in 6 months. now he's back on them, dealing with customers bitching and complaining about their phones. oh well.
rant #2
schedules for sjrcc came out today. yes I am the only person left still going there. and the ONE class I need to get my AA degree IS NOT OFFERED WHEN I NEED IT. am I surprised? no, not really. disappointed? YES. I failed my biology class, I passed the lab, I just need to retake the lecture to fulfill my science credit for my degree and I'm done. there's another biology class offered at night, you know the general biology I should have taken but didn't realize there was a difference between that and the one I took, but then I would have to take the lab with that, pay lab fees, and buy a new book. I don't want to do that. I want to retake the lecture I need. So what do I have to do? Well after battling to get fulltime at the bank, I'm going to have to negotiate to be able to take my damned class AND get my hours at work. and how am I going to have to do that..well the best solution I can come up with is this: the class is monday, wednesday and fridays 10-10:50. SO, I'm going to have to go to work, take my LUNCH from 9:45 to 11 to go to class, and go back to work. and bring food to eat at some point during the day. thankfully I work 5 minutes from school. hopefully they will work with me, there's no reason they shouldn't. I had really hoped the class would be offered at night, but I was really worried it wouldn't be.
other than that, I also need to find out what else I need to do so I can graduate this semester.
on a side note, Rachel whenever we get a house, you're moving in with us. you have no choice. the cat is lonely, she needs a friend. you will do nicely. you can scrub the floors with a toothbrush and repave the driveway. or you can lay around naked and watch tv, like the cat.
