May 13, 2009 13:11
so may 11th 2009 was one of the best days of my life. I got out of school at about 12:45 and picked andrew up. we rolled a few fattys, (via green game and peanutbutter papers) kissed marley puppy goodnight and set off by 2:00 pm for the cape. I had a bag packed full of goodies and a charged ipod for the route. we stopped for gas, arizona ice tea, cigs, and subway along the journey.
we made it to the cape in ample time (by 5 pm) and decided to explore. we ended up at a beach in dennis, ma searching for little creatures. we waded in the freezing cold ocean and picked up crabs, snails, muscles, you name it. i must admit that it was quite amazing to feel the comforts of sand and salt water on my toes for the first time in 2009.
by 6:10 we parted with the atlantic and headed for cape cinema. we arrived about an hour early and stood at about 12th in line of 300 people. the wind picked up and it got a little chilly, but i barely noticed since andy was making me cry from laughing (literally) the whole time in line.
we got to our wonderful seats (second row) and just looked at each other in a sort of speechless amazement. the show was here; we're in our seats and full of the utmost anticipation.
the opening act was a young guy with an acoustic guitar- funnier than musically talented, but it was bearable. then on came justin vernon and the rest of bon iver. my heart stopped briefly.
let me tell you that this show rivals treos's last show (that is quite a claim too). i had chills the entire time. i even had tears in my eyes during skinny love and re:stacks.
if you ever get the chance to see bon iver live, DO IT.
i had high expectations for this show, and JV fucking exceeded them in every way.
i love bon iver. i love andrew carter. i love journeys that go deep into the night and make my stomach muscles sore.
summer is almost here and i am ready for positivity and lots of good times. get @ meeeeeeee.
