Sick

Erg...
So, this is how today has started:

5.00am. Rebekah wakes up crying. I get out of my warm bed into the cold cold cold and go put her dummy back in. Go to the toilet, grab some face washers from the laundry, go back to bed.

6.00am. Repeat process minus toilet and face washers.

7.00am. Mat knocks on the bedroom door and says he's too sick to go to school.

7.30am. Alarm goes off

7.40am. Mat's music teacher rings. How early??? I explained to her my reasons for Mat not doing a piano exam this year and she was ok with it all. Just had to be put at ease that I recognise he is her top student and won't be having him quit piano. No no no. I agree he has a gift that is too good to waste. I just don't want to put too much pressure on him right now (he can play the pieces wonderfully, but on top of that he has to memorise a heap of stuff and be good at sight reading, which he doesn't like to practice doing!). Also found out he doesn't have to do exams grade by grade. If he keeps learning and goes up in grades he can take the exam for the grade he's up to at the time and not have to do all the previous ones (yay! That saves money!). I told her he will start doing the exams if he later decides his piano is to be a career path for him. I also told her he was sick today and wouldn't be having his lesson. She was like "I'm glad I rang then! Or I wouldn't have known!" Ppfftt. I ALWAYS let her know, it's just that I'd only just been told he was sick, I was still half asleep... I wasn't yet thinking about what I had to do today when she rang! Heck, I wasn't even out of bed.

Mat's not the only one who feels a bit yuck. *sigh*

I rang the school to let them know Mat wouldn't be in (as you do when you get up outta bed and collect your thoughts! AND wait for a reasonable hour to do so!) and also to find out our parent/teacher interview time. It's 5.20pm tonight. So Danny will leave work a little earlier to make it for that. Mat will also have to get dressed and come as his teacher wants the kids there as well. Heh. Anyway, I'm tipping he'll be fine by the afternoon (aren't they always?). He's already come down into the lounge and is lying on the couch with his doona over him and books spread around him. In our old house he used to have to spend the whole day in his bed, but this house his bedroom is so isolated up the end of the house (and cold up there!) so I relent and let him do this. Just the same, there's no TV (unless it's stuff I want to watch) or sitting at the computer or anything 'fun'. Mat will get into Dr. Phil with me at lunch time tho :P

That couch sucks to lie on tho, even tho I've fixed the padding/support.

Anyway. I keep waiting for this thing to turn into the flu, but it seems to just be a cold. I've had it for a few days now and it's not really that bothersome. I have a bit of a headache/stuffy head. I think I'm more yuck from my morning wake ups (and late to bed last night) than anything.

I'd like to go and have a nap now, but Rebekah won't sleep for as long as I want to nap for. May as well use the time for my shower.

health, school, mathew, me, piano
