If this is how they worked with bow and arrows a thousand years ago, then why does he use the most technically advanced compound bows available today? And only uses short bows instead of the true medieval powerhouse of the trade?

Pretty sure your basic Agincourt type yew-longbow archer could NOT do this artistic approach, they WERE long range artillery meant to be fired synchroneously by thousands of archers... (Robin Hood would also have carried a long bow as he came from the crusades not out of poaching like many of his merry men)

A lot of this "theory" reminds me of the guys doing carthwheels in full plate armor. Yeah, sure you CAN do those moves in perfectly worked armor. Does not mean 100% of all warriors ever wearing those kind of suits in real warfare would have tried!
Just compare it to today... MMA was a military concept to train people in martial arts, so in theory every soldier worldwide should be able to do the top moves out of the showfights and championship circuits. Do they use that in battle? Hell no... because most of the guys actually in battle are conscripts or short time volunteers that never would have enough time to LEARN how to do these tricks let alone do them well enough to use them when it's life or death. A quick slug from your M16 still beats most knife skills or hand-to-hand combat when it comes to results.

I think they said that it was about rediscovering the technique and not fight exactly like they did back then?
