im all about giving oscars to ledger and walle. No problems there. I just dont want to live in a world (a film world) where people start to forget that movies dont have to be based on comic books, dont have to have action, and can be fully original. You will probably cut my dick off for this, but ledger was great, yet I have seen performances in other movies several times just as good. It is the best performance of the year, no doubt. However, take the Steven Segal movie Out for Justice...if heath ledger deserves a statue then so does William Forsythe from that movie...segal and the middling action movie style aside, every moment forsythe is on screen i am riveted and frightened at his performance...it feels like anyone or anything is about to die or happen, truly a great piece of acting on his part. Infact I would easily equal it to that of Ledger's joker, infact i would probably prefer to be in a room with joker instead of forsythe from OUT FOR JUSTICE. Sure the movie isnt even comparable with The Dark Knight...but that performance is...where are the accolades, did he ever get any, no one cares at all...am I mad about ledger getting accolades? no. I'm just saying the performance playing an unpredictable crazed pyschopath to perfection is not NEW at all, its been done, even in middle of the road action movies like Out For Justice (which is a great 80's action flick really, did he cover it in Segology?)I dont know exactly where I was going with that, but I wanted to say it and I wanted to say it to you. Bah.

Pineapple is not a work of arthouse cinema or the best movie of the year, however I enjoyed it most this year. I'm burnt out on all this comic book hero shit man, and everything is so HUGE and GROUNDBREAKING...god. Pineapple Express was a simple stoner comedy...just add action, violence, and a huey lewis intentionally Back To The Future-like themesong...it was balls out and hilarious and I loved it.

There Will be Blood was fucking genius, I couldnt even wrap my mind around how good it was, i loved it through and through, same with No Country...but its still not the greatest movie ever...infact is there a greatest movie ever? No...not really...but if there was, i would bet it would be at least 15-40 years old when the world decided it was...thanks for reading man and keep in touch!
