twisted things

I had to use a smiley Cuddy icon again as I've been feeling random moments of satisfaction and optimism throughout the day. Wonder what's wrong with me.

My morning playlist, which was soft, soothing and unintrusive enough for me to read up on Southeast Asian History on the bus to school. I have a growing penchant for folk-influenced and quieter forms of music, ever since I have come to the realisation of the near-impossibility of Paramore and My Chemical Romance being my background soundtrack to a period where concentration is imperative. (The lyrics are distracting, the music makes me want to dance, and the singing gets my attention.)

Love And Some Verses - Iron & Wine
You're A Wolf - Sea Wolf
Mango Tree - Pearl And The Puppets
Sophia - Nerina Pallot
Wrapped In Your Arms - Fireflight
It's About Time - Barcelona
Breathe (2am) - Anna Nalick
No One Else - Natalie Walker
Pearl And The Puppets is love. Her voice is beautiful, though at times I tried and failed to make out the lyrics but I don't mind at all. There are some tracks available at soundwire  here  for the curious.

Project Work's Task Notes have been officially released. The topics are 'almagamation' and 'alternative'. It's difficult to decide which one we'd rather work on but as the time has not yet come for an official, result-altering decision, I'd read up on those two and try to work out something sensible. That being said, another piece of encouragement has popped up for us to press on: NJC's guide to project work is a work of art and words. It might be the school's best, most impressive investment all year, and it looks more like a magazine than a soul-destroying piece of academic guidelines!

Today has lacked no flavour of being a brand new start. I certainly hope it is. I can do Math, I've done all my homework, and though I'm on livejournal now I'll get back to the desk in a jiffy. To stop myself from giving in to the urge of grabbing a beloved book of the shelf and reading snatches of passages just for the pleasure of it (I keep doing it; it's a habit) I've locked some of the paperbacks in the medicine cabinet for the time being.

Hail the antibiotics and painkillers. They actually work this time.
