So I've read two books these past couple of days... one is At Risk by Patricia Cornwell. I've had it since the beginning of June, and was saving it for vacation. GREAT! It was a refreshing change from her Kay Scarpetta persona. I would have loved to read it in the New York Times as it came out one chapter at a time, but it was still amazing put together in one book.
The book I just finished about three hours ago was a Mary Higgins Clark book, Pretend You Don't See Her. WOW, really suspensful. I wanted to reach into the book and wring the lead character's neck so bad I could hardly stand it. She frustrated me, but her character ended up doing the right thing in the very, very end of the novel. But, boy, was she frustrating. Great storyline, pretty interwoven through a lot of characters. Quite charming, actually.
So, what did I do today? Got up at 10am to my dad jumping on my bed. He said we were going to get me goggles for the pool (contacts... grrr). I was like, sure!, and I get up and go. We're in the truck with my Uncle and 15 year old cousin (and the little 2 year old), and whadya know it... we're going to the Jet Ski dealership. After how many years and Bill is ready for another 2 jet skis?!?! They're going back tomorrow to actually purchase them. So, who knows? I might be on the lake (it's closer than the Intercoastal Waterway) skimming across the water!
Went to the mall, Dad bought me a handmade leather bracelet, something to remember him by while I'm by my lonesome in Memphis. Mom/Dad bought me 4 new books!!! I got: Best Friends by Martha Moody somebody or other; The Memory Keeper's Daughter recommended by Becky McCollum; The Pact by Jodi Picote (sp?), author recommended by Becky; and The Myth of You & Me bye somebody, and I think that's the title. The last is something I picked up with a lot of promise, I hope it's going to be great! I don't know what I'm going to read first, but I'm looking forward to reading them all!! YAY!
Hmm... this was a kinda long entry by my standards. If you read all the way through, you get an e-cookie! Until tomorrow, much love my dear friends!
