Songs for a New World

Slept at 5 AM last night, woke up at 7:30 this morning, had a Calc exam in the afternoon after eating old french fries for lunch.
Feelin' good baby,

Saw a play performed by a student-organized theater group called Cabaret Theater today. OMG today was SPEED DATING DAY. But I missed it to go see this play. Man. Conflict of interest. Quite a few of my friends went, and it would been a hoot to see the awkwardness. Oh well, guess my choice to see the play just screams how SOPHISTICATED I AM. *cough*

Anyways back to the play.

It's called "Songs for a New World", and I feel that calling it a play is a misnomer, because there were no spoken lines at all. It was all in song-- rockin', piano jiving, bass trembling song. The set barely changed, here's a pic of the stage:

Basically, the chairs moved around sometimes. That was it.
I wasn't too sure about the story since there wasn't really a plot, but I think it was a bunch of stories tied together by a theme. There were 4 actors, 2 men, and 2 women, and each song they sang told a different tale. However, though their stories, and situations changed, they maintained a sort of character arc.
Oh, just an aside: One of the dudes was so flamboyant.......in one of the songs he and the other male actor were supposed to "fight" and flamboyant guy like, struts up to the other guy and tries to give a defiant stare, but ended up looking like he was checking the dude out.
lol well, the whole idea of the play, I think, was to tell the stories of people who found a "new world" in their own ways. One of the actresses kept playing these wives who were caught in loveless marriages, and she had the most hilarious characters. She went through a New York accent, and a European accent, lol, she was a riot. And by the end of her character arc, in a song about Santa Claus (she's Mrs. Claus complaining about how he's too absorbed in his work) she chooses to leave her husband, freeing herself to pursue a new life, or a "new world".
I don't think I'll discuss 'em all, but the music is so fantastically good. I probably think so because it's piano centric, but w/e I recommend it.
