It wasn't the result I expected, but I can see how it went that way. They all have some good strengths, and some weaknesses too -- I could have seen any of the three of them winning.

I also expect that all three of them have some significant projects in the works from being on Idol. They may be happier to not win and thus be out from the contractual commitments that go with being #1. Daughtry seems to be doing pretty well; Taylor Hicks, well...

Anyway, to the point: I figured that it was either Blake or Melinda out. Why her? Because the ONE thing you don't want to be on AI (particularly near the end) is consistent. Really good wins you voters. An "off night" rallys your fans to keep you on. Doing as good as you always have? Boring to new people and your fanbase relaxes and doesn't call as much. And despite what they say, it's not just about the singing.....

It's one of those things where the observation in and of itself was enough to make the point. I figured when I read it that it couldn't have been Blake, and since I kind of knew that Jordin was on too hot a streak to be booted I had a really good guess. I'm all crafty like that. :)

But you know you'll be watching next year and will be all "why are they keeping that Bob kid? Who in the world is voting for him???" :)
