I don't know why I find it so amusing that someone made a stained glass image (almost to the bottom) of the black lotus card. It's actually kind of pretty. I'd hang it in my house, if it weren't so... obvious.

Last night was peril_book_club, in which Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance was given a good thrashing. Then we watched Heroes which actually had ( Read more... )

I shouldn't spoiler it! I should leave you to have an unsullied experience! I haven't listened to the whole thing yet.

Do you feel as though your book club is very negative? I miss having a bookclub so much, but it seems to me everything you guys read gets thrashed!! Is this ok? How does it play out with the rest of the group? Are people in tears?

Also I meant to tell you! My Aunt has quit her job as a Nurse Practioner to be a full-time Reiki Practioner! She will be at my graduation party and I have a card - she's offering any friends of family members half-off their first session. (I don't get anything from this [no family kickbacks], but hey, If you haven't tried Reiki yet, it might be worth investigating.)

I don't think we're overly negative, except when the book sucks. Heh.

No, it's a good crowd. Even with the most recent book, which was, shall we say, not well-received, people were finding good things to say about it.

(If you attend, though, I might suggest not suggesting your favoritest book of all time right off the bat.)

(Incidentally, my mom just got into the reiki a year or two back, coincidentally enough.)

Oh, I think our book club is mostly not negative! We've liked more books than we've disliked, and even then I try to push everyone to say something nice about the book. meercat and I are often careful to be as even-handed as possible. Like Paul said though, it's probably not a good idea to suggest your favoritest book of all time, because the chances are someone's not going to like it and might say something negative.

I haven't tried reiki in years! But I'm not averse. I am curious if she didn't like being a Nurse Practitioner? Or was it just the interest in doing reiki?

I think Reiki was more along the lines of what she really wanted to do. She still works a few days at patient first sometimes.

Stealth geekery! Love it!
Though I don't think it's as obvious as you say. Magic geeks would get it but others would think that it's a nice piece of stained glass. Even knowing what it is, I think it's a nice piece of stained glass.

Heroes!OMG!
I'm positively *dying* to know what the old team's powers were/are! Do you think that might be the meat of another season? I've heard that each season is going to be a standalone story. I'm just hoping Kring can keep this kind narrative quality next year.

I am not sure how I feel about future Heroes plans. I had heard they were just going to do one season and I was satisfied with that, because I always say quit while you're ahead, but now that there will be more I'm cautious. If Peter doesn't survive my interest will be greatly dimmed.

Now that is a work of art! Not only do you get to geek out, you get something beautiful. I call that success:)
