My nose and throat have felt like abraded fiberglass for almost a week. I honestly can't remember the last time I was sick for more than a 24 hour period, and 80% of those instances were food poisoning. This may have left me completely unprepared to cope with longterm sickness, because I've been doing a lot of whining and flailing about it (both of which entertain Nick, because I sound something like an emphysemic who's been sucking helium through her oxygen hole, and all the lying around I've been doing has made my limbs awfully prone to falling asleep). It's unfair and I would like it to stop so that I can go back to being a normal human being. Or to get so bad that I can justify taking sick days, which won't happen, because my boss is on vacation. One or the other, plague. Shit or get off the pot.
All this time draped uselessly over the couch has given me a chance to wrap up a couple of knitting projects and complete a page of sketches. So here's the latter, anyway:
The thought process here was something like: Man, it's hard to draw two people kissing. Too many chins and lips, and somebody's always tilting one way or the other. I should maybe practice. And then it turned into kinds of kissing (still mostly steamy, granted), and then there was this.
Shading runs the gamut from "not too shabby" to "FFFFFSEIZURE", but all in all I'd call this a fun exercise. To give credit where it's due, half of these were referenced from various stock photos or magazine clippings (because LET ME TELL YOU how hard it is to google 'kissing' without wading through porn. 'Kiss' pulls up another kind of result entirely). Good practice! I could see hunting up a new batch of reference photos and giving this another go.
Happily, Harris Teeter has a sale on canned soup AND crackers. Score!
