Snagged from

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
The story of how I ended up with boring old Nicole when my sibs got Lance, Brett, Shaun(a girl) and Coral is a long and complicated tale involving my mother, my real father, my fake father and several sets of clueless grandparents. I have the best conception story ever.
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
Seeing as how there's an indefinite embargo on my uterus, no. I save the names I like for characters in story/comic projects. I have a little file somewhere.
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex, what would your name have been?
Harold, after my maternal great-grandfather. Compared to that, I suppose 'Nicole' isn't so bad.
If my sister had been a boy, her name would have been 'Spike.' I honestly don't think my mother was joking.
4. If you could re-name yourself, what name would you pick and why?
I'd considered it in the past. My mom wasn't the one who wanted my name to be Nicole, so she has no attachment to it and wouldn't care if I decided to change it. But I've been Nicky for twenty years and I don't think I could get re-used to something. Also, renaming myself would mean taking responsibility for whatever I pick, forever and ever, and I'm too fickle to choose (my reasons for never getting a tattoo are similar).
And anyway, the people around me see fit to rename me however they choose. For three years of junior high I was 'Lily', and I still don't know why.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
My own grandmother mispells my name 'Nichole' all the time. And most people assume that I spell my nickname 'Nikki'. I do not. I never will. It's insipid.
