This year, Chinese New Year is really different.
My second younger sister, Stacy, is currently abroad pursuing her medical studies. This is the first year we are celebrating CNY without her. It feels really different, but wait, same as well because we do feel her presence with us. We're happy that she's having her share of CNY there. Having steamboat with her Singapore Society Committee people, making nian gao and etc. We are constantly updating each other on our family group Whatsapp conversation. Thank goodness for technology. On CNY's eve, we skyped with her too. Glad all's well! Sister, you're dearly missed by all of us! All relatives asked about her when they came visiting to our place on the first day. Or when we go visiting, their convo topics with our family about Stacy never fall short.
My sister is flying back in June! I can't wait.
This year's CNY is different, too, because of dear boyfriend Johnson. :) He came visiting to my place on the first day. I introduced him to most of my relatives. Boy, it was not an easy task. Haha. Glad that it all went well and my relatives finally got to see him in person. (Some of the commented that they always see him on Facebook only haha). Johnson bought me a flower pinwheel too! Such a simple and sweet surprise. Who would expect a boy to give a girl such thoughtful gifts nowadays?
My favourite photo of us!
On chu er, it was my turn to go visiting at his place! I felt anxious, really. Haha. It was first time meeting his parents. He already met mine last year during my family Christmas dinner @ Holiday Inn. The moment I entered his doorstep, I was already warmly welcomed by his parents and sisters. That was very comforting and relieving for me! Phew. Haha. His parents are really nice, and so are his sisters. Finally got to meet his second elder sister. I've been conversing with her since 3 months ago about surprising Johnson here and there before he went army and all. Haha. Thank goodness for siblings. I got to know his family members better. Thankfully they're really nice people! Felt comfortable with them. Well, my family members are nice to Johnson too, okay, Haha.
His mom cooked dinner and I ate before we left for river ang bao in the evening! Been there many years ago. That day, with Johnson, it was a whole new experience. I felt very taken care of, haha, because it was so crowded and he held my hands pretty tightly. Hahahaha. And I was wearing wedges so he made sure I didn't trip and fall. I can walk very well in wedges okay. Lol. We went to sit on the platform, the view was beautiful and bright. It was really relaxed, just to enjoy each other's company. Johnson brought snacks as usual hahaha. So many snacks in his bag! Hello panda. :D
