Progress on the small dog front: Roadrunner will now sit in the same room with me, as long as I sit very still and quietly in one place. The second I move or talk, though, she will still bolt out of the room. Any further tips on dealing with small dogs still greatly appreciated, though...
Now, onto the next year of the Aughts: 2003, or The Big Move.
The second half of freshman year included my first involvement with Sinfonicron (The Music Man again! but this time as the props manager) and my first Spring Tour with the Choir. Exciting things continued in the summer, with my first trans-Atlantic travel: a trip to southern France with my church! This was also my first experience with directing a music ensemble, traveling across the ocean with gospel music. Oddly enough, our family was also hosting two French exchange students at that time. Everything seemed to be moving along swimmingly...until I was informed that our family would be uprooting itself from the DC area to a little town in North Carolina that I had never heard of: Jacksonville. The actual move happened while I was at W&M, but I got to "meet" Jacksonville during Thanksgiving Break (after the Hurri-cation courtesy of Isabel). I vowed to get out, no matter how long it took. (6.5 years later, and I'm still working on it.) Secondarily, the Big Move could refer to the move across campus from Monroe to Unit K. A *big* culture change from one side of campus to the other!
