Temping time again!
Happy Independence Day weekend! This is my vacation-within-a-vacation, so I now have time to give a bit of an update.
As has been the case over the last few years, I'm trying to scrape together a few pennies over the summer by temping. I've just completed the second week of the summer's first job, a Human Resources position in the mess hall on base. And I thought I encountered a lot of drama working with kids!! To work in HR is to be surrounded by a maelstrom of everyone's personal issues. It's the exhilarating, yet infuriating, thing when people are the main focus of your job.
Also, I'm getting things in place for my second summer job, which will be tutoring for a rising third-grader. I met with his grandmother yesterday, and we went over a few basics regarding scheduling and content. She seems pretty nice, and it sounds like things will go well with the kid. (I haven't met him yet; he lives in Texas, and he'll be up here visiting his grandparents for the summer.) I'm excited to be tutoring again like I did last summer. I'm even more excited that I'll be paid for it this time!
Honestly, at the moment, that's about all that's been going on. Mostly, I'm preserving my energy before my internship starts next month. (OK, I guess that's just an excuse for having no life...) There *is*, however, another bit of excitement that will be occurring before the internship; that will be revealed another day...
For now, though, things are on an even keel. Not great, not terrible...just...going.
