Red Dwarf ?

After a certain person confessed to never having seen Red Dwarf, I have started toying with the idea of having a few friends (including beforementioned person) over for a day/evening of Red Dwarf viewing. Wondering who'd be interested.

Is it anything like the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Universe?
I read that a few chapters from the book, saw a few episodes of the TV series, and then saw the movie. When it just started I thought it was brilliant, but after 15 minutes I start to get annoyed. And after 30 minutes I get very very very annoyed.

If Red dwarf is anything like that, I'd best not come over to watch it.

Well, that depends on what it is that annoyed you about the Hitchhiker's Guide.

There are similarities, yes (it's comedy, it's sci-fi, it's british, theres' some tech gags), but then there are a lot of differences too (it's sitcom, interpersonal gags, dysfunctional characters), so there's no way to tell, really.
