Anyone know about shipping computers?
Sadly I have never actually built a computer myself, so I'm not really very familiar with the bits inside (apart from the occational bit of hard drive swapping). For that reason I was planning on sticking the whole computer in the original packaging for the box and sending it off like that. I figure the packaging for the box should be pretty good, but then I started wondering if a sharp jolt could knock off somthing big, like the heatsink? A month on the high seas with a chuck of metal rattling around inside will mush the whole thing.
I could take the guts out and carry it on the plane (might confuse the security people). I think I have some anti-static bags, but I'm not really confident about pullig things out and putting them together again at the other end.
Any ideas/comments/offers to fix it for me/etc. welcome.
