"In Old Country, fanfiction recs YOU!"
You guys, am I the only one that is up to my EYEBALLS in fic right now?!?! Jiminy Christmas, I have so many words to read...
It happens every time, EVERY TIME, the reverse or big bang fics post. They start popping up, and I just throw my hands in the air and say, "Whelp. I guess I know what I'm doing for the next coupla weeks..."
But there is one fic in particular that I would like to spread The Good News about. It's actually not a ___bang fic. It's a WIP on the kinkmeme. The prompt was this picture:
accompanied by the text: "Not every soldier that came home from the war had a lady waiting to kiss him."

And, you guys, the story that the author is writing: SO GDAMN BEAUTIFUL. Eames goes Over There to fight the Nazis, and Arthur is his man, waiting back in Iowa for him. I'm a total sucker for stories that create mood and atmosphere and a sense of time and place, and the author does ALL THOSE THINGS. And her characterizations of Arthur and Eames are so vivid and so... realistic. And Arthur is a total corn-fed All-American boy from the midwest! gfbnjakdajlk!!
And ohmahgod, it's so romantic. And bittersweet, and I honestly teared up while reading, like, the fourth part of the story.
So go forth and read, if you are so inclined. Especially if you have a history kink like I do. Once again, it can be found here.
