NJ was fun. I enjoyed seeing everyone. I'm sad that I didn't get to go up to the Catskills, though. Maybe during the school year I will go up for a long weekend or something. Other people are welcome to join me. There are plenty of beds.
Alex's senior award stuff was... long. But I'm glad I went and saw him and Katie. His school gives out awards for eeeeeverything. We went to Uncle Stevie's house the other night and I got to see Michelle and Josh. woo.
The Kite Runner made me die. It is such a sad book. I cried multiple multiple times. It is very good, but be prepared to sob uncontrollably and to have a life change.
I also read The Color Purple, Sleepy Hollow, Living Islam Out Loud, two Mangas, and Undomesticated Goddess while I was there. Can you tell we had a lot of down time? If you know these books, you will know that several of them contain very sad bits. I should have brought more happy stuff. Once I delve into my HT reading it will only be more sad. Living Islam Out Loud was really good. It's a compilation of writings by Muslim American Women who write about their sometimes differing and sometimes similar experiences and perspectives.
Did I mention that the Kite Runner was really really sad? Like, really. Many many tears. Poor Hassan. His love was so unconditional and he was so hurt so many times. And poor Narrator who couldn't understand, accept, and return unconditional love until it was almost too late. And poor Hassan's son who suffered for the previous generation's problems.
Mikey and I watched some Naruto tonight. He is now looking up facts about the various tailed chakra beasts.
I am probably going to have many sad dreams because of that book. I never want to hurt anyone who loves me that much, on purpose or by accident.
