Bummin' a bit because I haven't been able to enjoy or even experience any of the fruit of my labor. I wanted Jay to have an amazing birthday and I'm really glad because I think he did, but I couldn't get work covered so I planned a big dinner and called a bunch of people and made reservations and picked a place that would work for most people, not to mention frieking fun (Buca di Bepo!) That wasn't too bad, I understood. But then I had to come in early to cover a shift at work so I didn't have time to get him a present. Bummer! and I had such good ideas. So then I get to work at 2 and I bust my butt to make sure we have everything done. I clean the matts which is the most difficult, dirtiest, and most time consuming job in about 30 minutes flat. Of course it's disgusting and I get the nastiness all over myself but it's ok because I know that we will close on time. I take my breaks way early so we can make sure to finish everything. I am constantly cleaning things and preparing to close. I singlehandedly run the register and bar for a good portion of the night as Penny does dishes in the back. I did everything I could to hurry the process along, even inviting the most adorable little Quizno's guy- PJ, to help me put the umbrellas away. I drop my till and tips super fast, I do dishes at lightning speed and I put almost all of them away. I took care of the newspapers, emptied trash cans, took the expired pastries out and cleaned the pastry case. I make prep stuff for the next morning, I worked so dang hard and because one girl was slow cleaning the espresso machine, and one person took forever to count the different money drawers because she mistook a roll of nickels for a roll of quarters, we got out 20 minutes late! So it's 10:20pm and I call Rebecca and haul it to Encinitas to join them, I am so excited, but still a little ticked from getting out so late. I drive Del Dios as quickly as I can (ask Kristi, that's fast!), and I get there in really great time only to find that there's no parking. So I am cruising up and down PCH looking for parking, it took me a good 10 minutes to find parking. At which point I get out of my car, still wet from doing dishes, and change into less gross work clothes, I look for my wallet to grab my ID and realize I left it at work. I took it out to buy a gift for Jay and left it under the front counter- that's right, no ID! and by this time it's late and there's no way they're going to let me in. So I call up the peeps inside, I even see a girl from the Pub, and say goodbye because there's no reason for me to stay if I can't go inside. I guess this is just one of those days when I can't get a break. I'm grumpy and tired and about to cry and I hope I don't feel this way when I wake up.
