New Order has enlisted producers Stephen Street (Smiths, Blur) and John Leckie (Radiohead, XTC) to work on its next studio album. No release date has been announced for the as-yet-untitled set, which will be the follow-up to 2001's "Get Ready." That album, New Order's first in eight years, debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Electronic Albums chart and No. 41 on The Billboard 200.
Meanwhile, group members Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook will be on hand May 23 at the Ritz in Manchester, England, for a memorial concert in honor of late Joy Division/New Order manager Rob Gretton. Sumner is expected to join Doves during the latter's acoustic performance, while Hook is tipped to perform with A Certain Ratio.
