I've been brought up BECAUSE of her, not DESPITE of her.
- I am Sam, a doctor whose mother is mentally retarded testified in court.
I just finish watching this beautiful, tear-jerking, heart-rending and absolutely moving movie titled I am Sam. It's really a very touching show. Everyone should rent it and watch it 9384925 times.
It's about this mentally retarded man who somehow got a daughter and he brought her up until her seventh birthday when he found out she's actually ashamed to have such a father, that was when people decided to interfere. Sam was told to give up his daughter for her sake because he would not have the ability to bring her up properly. His daughter, thankfully, regretted and wanted to be with her father no matter what. But because of his seven-year-old mentality, he lost the case and his daughter was sent to a foster home.
That was just a very brief summary.
And of course, in the end, they managed to be together after a court appeal.
I was crying pretty pitifully. And my mom was crying like hell.
We are such emotional people.
It's really difficult for anyone to intervene in such matters. How can you separate a daughter from her father when she literally grew up with him? I mean, there are definitely going to be problems arising but such honest and down-to-earth love, I believe that nothing can stand between them.
You know, I feel that it's the innocence that really touched my heart. Every single word said, it is the truth. There's nothing to doubt and it is this void of skepticism that really brought out the beauty of the show.
A must-watch.
