Oh my God, if I knew why, I would... idk, be a genius? I've written like, 23k of tentacle!porn, and what's weird is that it personally isn't a kink of mine (although there are fics where I like it). I think it would have to depend on the circumstances; who/what had the tentacles, what the gross factor was, etc.

It may be that tentacles = really phallic, and usually at LEAST dubcon, so. Someone should do a thesis, hahaha.

I've seen people talk about tentacle porn, but I've never actually read a story that featured it. I mean, in that someone actually had sex with a creature that has tentacles, or was penetrated by tentacles. I've always kind of assumed that it actually covered an entire genre of kink, maybe? Like, people said "tentacle porn" but that also includes things other than actual tentacles? Does that make sense? Either way, I don't know what the appeal is...I guess I'd have to actually see what stories folks are putting out with it before I could make a true judgment.
