"You can't hide happiness"

Mar 01, 2009 18:35

So, I've made a pledge. Since it's me, of course, it will probably fall through. Nevertheless, I have made a pledge. Yes, I've said that already.

The pledge (that I have made, d'oh! redundancy!) is that I shall post each day something on LJ that makes me happy. I thought about it earlier. I have no idea for how long, but I'm hoping til the end of the month. March is a weird month for me. It used to be one of my favorites, but now I usually give it the evil eye. Anyway, I know this probably sounds self-help-y, but still, it's something I'm doing. I just wanted to warn you all for possible bombardment of song lyrics, pictures of kids, pictures of animals, random quotes, etc.

So, March 1st. I decided to get the audiobook version of Stephen Colbert's book I Am America and So Can You since I have yet to read it. I needed something on my iPod in case I needed entertainment. Naturally, it had me in stitches and was ever-so quotable. For my happiness of the day thing, I'll be quoting from that:

So, Stephen is comparing the Old Testament and the New Testament. He is telling the Christians that they shouldn't skip the Old Testament to get to the New one:

"That's like not watching Batman & Robin because Batman Begins starts it all over...The only difference is that the new Batman can eat pork."

That was perhaps the most clever use of Batman & Robin in a joke I've ever heard.

Bonus happy: I made an icon (*points to userpic* for the first time in what feels like forever. Forgot how much I love it.

Bonus happy the second: You know what makes me happy? Those comments to my last post. Everytime I look back over them, all I can do is blush and say "You guys!!" *hugs all around*

f-list, stephen colbert, books, batman, things that make me happy, quotes, people made of awesome
