Replay: Dragon Age Origins

I never finished Dragon Age Origins before I bought Dragon Age 2. I made it all the way to the climactic battle through Denerim, with all your allies battling with you against the darkspawn, but I just couldn't get past that. I kept on dying. So I packed the game away and swore I'd get it finished before the sequel came out. Well, I didn't. Like a magpie with ADHD I was distracted by a shinier bauble. Thanks a lot there Mass Effect 2.

But I loved Dragon Age 2. It was so much damn fun. Lots of improvements over the first game, but some other stuff that wasn't as good as well. It made me wish I'd finished my Origins game, and I also wanted to play the game again because there was so much stuff about that world and the backstory that I'd forgotten.

So I'm doing a replay! I've just finished recruiting the Circle Mages. Which means I had to slog through the Sloth Demon quest in the Fade. My God, I'd forgotten how endlessly that seemed to drag on. And this time I at least had some basic idea of where and what I was supposed to be doing. It was just as disorientating and weird this time around. Which I suppose is the point, but I was still glad to wake up and get on with some solid blood mage killing instead of endless wandering round looking for Spirit Doors and mouse holes.

I hadn't realised that Knight-Captain Cullen was there in the Ferelden Circle! I guess that explains his problem with mages.
