Doctor Who

This River Song/Melody Pond storyline is so gloriously complicated. I can't believe it's been going on for 3 seasons of the show, slowly moving along and it's only now that we're starting to get answers. I've got to wonder, whether or not her entire history was really mapped out from the moment of her first appearance in Silence in the Library. If they've been blagging it and making it up as they go along, then I take my hats off to them, they've done it spectacularly well.

I really loved this episode - the entire sequence in which they accidentally saved Hitler, then locked him in a cupboard was brilliant. I need a GIF of Rory shouting "Shut up Hitler!" Or maybe... "Can you ride a motorcycle?" "Probably, it's been that sort of day." The dynamic of Amy and Rory as a couple and as individuals is really entertaining, and I'm glad they'll stick around next season (even if it is a reduced capacity as had been speculated). As a core trio I thought they didn't all gel so well at first, but it's really evolved to a place where the group dymanic works brilliantly. All having a simultaneous panic about saving Hitler's life was a great moment.

My only bugbear is this - I don't buy that River would, so quickly, do such a 180 on the Doctor, especially to the point of dramatically curtailing the length of her own life in order to save his. What exactly are we supposed to believe he whispered in her ear in order to accomplish this? And despite having grown up alongside Amy and Rory she seemed awfully unattached to the people who are both her best friends and parents.
