that section of road in the mountains, east of mt. hood but before the desert, where i hear this song, see the trees and sky, and feel the weight of my dog's head, carefully nestled on my leg by the steering wheel.
to borrow a phrase from the perks, it was a moment to feel infinite.
these moments, strung together delicately. tenuously.
that's life.
this whole summer has been delicious. positive, fulfilling.
full of old friends and new ones
adventures--big and small.
3 yrs ago it was an new adventure to drive across the country
now the routes have become familiar
landscapes and pit stops have become touchstones--flung out and scattered dots across thousands of miles of this country.
i have memorized the curve of roads around mountains.
not the details, but in how they feel.
in the words of the retired couple from aruba / vancouver: "well, you can't keep doing the same thing forever. what's the fun in that?"
the portland adventure has come to a close. bittersweet.
it feels good to finish something so well.
it feels good to have a life to return to that i'm really incredibly excited about.
i can't wait to see my life in 3 more years.

we're close as family, i won't steer you wrong
blame it on yourself and i know how you wallow
when it doesn't go your way, you have to follow
ay, oh, let it go
see the big picture
explode!
like a lightbulb
let it unfold
just go with it
