Lots happening.

Drew came to visit for a weekend and crashed at my place. Two days didn't give us a lot of time, but we did some of the fun stuff (Drunk in uptown on Friday night; Drunk downtown on Saturday Night). We didn't get to Nye's or any of the gellato shops because the Mall of America apparently captures the hearts and fantasies of people across the Midwest. Still, this gives me a whole arsenol of stuff to show him next winter when he freezes his testicles off :)

I also danced with a banana woman, but will likely only load the pictures (very grainy) to facebook.

Saturday Night was particularly crazy downtown. From what I understand, a decade earlier, Prince had made a promise exactly 10 years earlier to play a concert at 1st avenue on the very Saturday Drew and I try to taxi to a bar. Prince kept his promise. I didn't know about the concert. I haven't looked it up, so the details might be wrong, but downtown was a little more bizarre than usual. Prince is from here; Minneapolis loves Prince like Jersey loves Springsteen.

I read This Side of Paradise by Scotty Fitz. Unlike Gatsby and Tender is the Night, there really isn't one girl for the main sensitive male character to fall apart because of (odd grammar, but I can't bring myself to fix it; am I dangling a modifier). Instead, he is broken slowly by a couple women over the length of the book. It was an interesting change.

I use to have this tendency to get all Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights when I was drunk. Lately, I've been a cheerful, "hey baby, your place or mine" drunk which is completely new for me and only about 4 years too late. I'm sort of exploring it, feeling how it tastes, like a new jacket that needs to be worn in.

I'm reading High Fidelity by Nick Hornsby, now. So far its essentially indistinguishable from the movie, which isn't a bad thing because the movie was good, but less exciting because I know whats going to happen next.

I was at a used book store to find some sandman novels and I found one, hardcover and priced at 80 bucks. I brought it to the clerk asked if it was a typo, maybe 8 bucks. He said "its 80 because its hard cover" to which I responded "cardboard is not that expense." The manager came over and looked at it and was like, "oh this is a first edition, it shouldn't be out on the racks. and put it behind the counter on display." I txted Michelle just to brag that I touched it :) I didn't have the sense to steal it, like I should have.
