It's really awesome to go seven months etween entries. I sometimes forget that everyone still posts on these things with regularity. Just sitting in the library on a gorgeous fall afternoon (it's fuckin cold as well, but cold can contribute to gorgeousness if it means you get to dress tastefully in winter apparell) waiting around until 6:45 for a mandatory meeting for the paper to start. Anybody ever notice that no matter how old you get (22 in my case) acts of procrastination always seem to follow you?
There are about a gajillion other things that I should probably be doing now. Working on 10-12 page research paper do for history at the end of semester? Nah, fuck it. Writing draft of 4-5 page Humanities-History paper due on Monday? Nah, I'm tired. Email certain professors and ask about recommendations for the master's program? God, what a horrible idea.
The more things change, the more they don't.
I got netflix last night. Yeah, I work at a video store and I got netflix. I'm a smart guy. Obscurities and older foreign films of merit don't normally grace the shelves of the 12000 Aiken Road video facility.
Best movies seen thus far this year: The Departed, The Proposition, Half Nelson, Prarie Home Companion
The Prestige I really, really enjoyed. Finally, a movie with twists that isn't obsessed with proving how smart it is.
Flags of Our Fathers blew goats, though I'm sure all of your parents will say that it is brilliant.
Book of the week: Albert Camus' "The Plague." Pretty amazing.
Album of the week: The Concretes, "In Colour" (Thought they were a cheap Rilo Kiley rip off for a bit, but have actually turn out to be quite a bit of fun)
Thing I'm dreading: This paper meeting tonight where my section is going to flogged for not coming in with any of its assignments two weeks in a row. I consider myself in the clear seeing as I haven't had an assignment for two weeks (paper bueracracy producing pissed off editors because of me writing for news before I wrote for entertainment one week) but I'm sure to get lumped in with all the other bastards who just didn't do their story. Oh well, at least I get to go home after it is over, something that I really want to do right now.
This concludes first post in 7 months. Look for me again in March of 07.
