I haven't been posting a whole lot in here lately. Most of my thoughts have been about Iraq and the war, and I tend to dislike armchair-punditry. So, my thoughts are staying mostly to myself to avoid being a hypocrit.
However, having said that, I find that the mainstream media is always lacking when it comes to providing the service the are supposed to: giving complete, un-biased information about current events. As an example, a friend quoted a stat from Fox News that stated there had been 35,000 Iraqi casualties thus far. I explained to him that, being Fox News, the most you could take from that was that there were anywhere from 5,000 to 70,000 casualties because of their biases. He wouldn't believe me. Oh well.
Having said that, I have been looking for some sites that provide more interesting analysis and coverage of the conflict. Typically watching the international press is a good idea.
The Guardian tends to be an interesting site. They tend to provide more detailed insight into war, and the inner-workings of the British Government.
Just now, I've found an even more interesting site:
Independent Media Center is more interesting. They don't try to report the news, rather they compile indpendent sources that bring their own biases to the news, however they tend to not have as many hidden agendas, or spin machines behind them.
At this time, having access to more source of real words, and real information from the front lines is every bit as important in understanding what our media is telling us, as it is to understand the conflict itself. But, that's just my opinion.
