Aside from enjoying the sudden bout of mostly-sunny, lower 50s, early spring weather, it's business as usual. Reading, writing papers, class discussions.
I wasn't particularly excited about linguistics when the quarter started. I wasn't sure it would be a fun class. But I love going to that class, and what's more - I'm just really good at linguistics. Sounds conceited, but there's really no other way to put it. I get it, and it comes really easily to me, and I enjoy doing it. I like words, figuring out where they come from, where they go, why they function the way they do.
I stayed up too late last night reading. I wasn't tired, so I just kept reading, and didn't end up going to bed until three in the morning. Not the best plan. Still managed to drag myself out of bed and go to class, though, and I'm glad because the theory discussion today was really good. I forgot that good books tend to get me in trouble because I never want to put them down. Like Fools Crow. Great book. Never want to put it down. I'm about fifty pages away from finishing it. It's the way I've always wanted people to feel about my books, when I finally get around to writing and publishing them.
In three weeks, it'll be finals week, and the quarter will be over. It always surprises me how quickly time seems to pass. One minute I'm snowed in at my Nana's house in Spokane, and the next it's 52 degrees out and I'm anticipating spring break and praying that the weather holds.
And, most exciting of all, Sherman Alexie is coming to speak at Western on the 18th of March. And since I'll be completely done with finals, I can enjoy it without worrying about school. Which is awesome.
Life feels pretty damn good at the moment. It'd be better if I weren't out of oranges.
Also, Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a very good movie, and I've developed a sort of craving for Spanish guitar.
