Just stopping in

So I haven't posted on here in forever. I've mainly been using facebook and my own blog on blogspot, which is about books of course.
Well, things have been pretty busy around here. I survived my second Vacation Reading Club but my first one at my branch. I really enjoyed it. The kids are absolutely great during this time. They're so excited to get books and prizes. I gave many first time library cards. I loved having the adults come in who have never had a card before. They can get even more excited than the kids. Many of the adults were seniors. ( I do mean senior not elderly which to me is over 80. Hey I'm only 32 so keep my perspective in mind. LOL)
I've also been training a new library assistant.  Just today I worked my second library fair. This time didn't seem as hectic as last year. Could be I knew what I was in for or that I didn't have as much to do with the planning and set up as before. I worked in the midway section again (fun & games). It's always a blast watching the kids reactions when they know over the tin cans or get something on the end of their fishing line. This year was better for me anyway. It's a great feeling when kids come up to you and say "Hey, Ms Amber" or other patrons come up to you and chat. Kind of like when they see me out with all my kids and they stop me and chat and just small talk with ya. It makes working at the library great. Hum, maybe I'll need to post a "top .... " list about working in a library.
Anyway, I am tired and my feet & legs hurt. Probably not as much as others but hey, breaking things down is hard work. Lots of carrrying things and today it was up and down stairs for most of it. (Okay, I made liberal use of the elevator too.)

After taking several quarters off school for several reasons, I'm waiting for Fall quarter to start on the 30th. I changed my degree field from an accounting associate to a management & supervisory associate degree. It just seems to fit better for the time being and while I love math and numbers and accounting, I just don't see myself getting a job in it  in the near future. I'll be taking three classes online this quarter. A major load for me. Besides work and school, I also have to contend with my 12 year old's band schedule and my 10 year old's chess schedule plus throw in my excuberant two year old and the plate is piling up. Of course, that is not all. I also have to take my 12 year old to a neurologist in Athens every three months for evaluations. He gets extreme migraines at least once a week and almost every day he has minor headaches. After an evaluation earlier this month he was placed daily medication. It has worked wonders so far. A plus side is the moody preteen symptoms don't seem as bad. However, if he misses a day it's like Godzilla is living with us. ROAR!!
My 10 year old has been diagnosed with mild ADD (not a big deal) and moderate oppositional defiant disorder. We are had a great counseling schedule set  up with a place here that would visit the school as well as do office visits. As usual our insurance (government  because hubby is retired Army) doesn't want to accept them and pay them. They want us to go to Macon or Greensboro. Now how are we to do that when he can only go after school (so not to miss it) and I can only go before 11 so I can be at work at 11:45 and work til 6:15.
So for now we are just getting by and trying not to go insane.
Have you ever heard of a library employee going "postal"?

Anyway, things are constantly in warp speed around here.

I'll try not to take so long in posting again. However, I have found facebook to better suited to my hectic style for now. So swing over and check it out if you want. I'm enjoying that format. I've also been busy reading (it's my relaxing thing) and posting reviews and such on my blog-
librarianatthelake@blogspot.com.

See ya
