journaversary
haven't been on here for a bit, but it's the tenth anniversary of my lj, and that seemed like a decent occasion for writing something. so here is some writing.
got to go to chile in the fall and fly over antarctica, which was fun. going to greenland in a few weeks and am trying to get some cold-weather gear together for that. amanda is moving to omaha, and i'm not sure how i feel about that.
things have been going really well with ali. she got to stay up here over christmas break and we've managed to go back and forth to visit each other. it's also looking as though she'll be published pretty soon, so that's really cool. and she'll be up here for spring break, so that will be nice. might go visit the african art museum in the smithsonian. or try to go to a hoe-down here in salisbury (we were about to go to one once, but that didn't end up happening; there will be other hoe-downs, though).
there was some morning show that was going on on the radio on the way to work. i had just changed the channel and someone brought up something about a time portal and one of the other talkers protested. how can you be fine with discussions about sports, which are entertaining but not something that should require as much time being discussed as most people give them, and not be okay with talking about something as awesome as a time portal? that really bothered me.
