Mr Snaz has been gardening. He planted entirely too many yellow squash, because one can not have too much of a good thing, apparently. So it's not surprising that we have an abundance. Actually, it is surprising, because the last time we planted squash the caterpillars ate them all up. Mr Snaz has been making squash pickles, which are delicious in their just-canned state and will hopefully be extra delicious once they have had time to cure.
Fresh squash is much better than supermarket squash. Sharra the cat thinks so as well. She stole several squash off the counter and threw them onto the floor so that she could beat them up and chomp on them. This is the same kitty that tried to fight sweet potatoes when she was a kitten. I think my cat is a vegetarian.
So now I keep the squash in a bowl on the counter and cover them with a towel to keep the cat out. Last weekend I gave some away and forgot to cover them before going to lunch with friends. By the time I got back from lunch, Sharra the Squash Slayer had taken bites out of every squash left in the bowl. Maybe she thinks squash are evil. Or possibly yummy.
