BSOD
This is an obligatory Big Day Out post. Well, not really obligatory, because I usually can't be fucked making a big long post. Not to mention people look at their friends pages and see a big long list of BDO themed posts. So if anything, the arsehole side of me made this post to clog your pages even more. <3 Awww, eat this.
No, rather I'll post about parts of the BDO other people haven't.
Well, if anything, this years BDO was much better than last years. No, the lineup wasn't awesomely special, but it featured a (mostly) good/nonclashing timetable, and fewer crowds meant I could see everything I'd paid to. Having seen someone bitch about a poor quality performance by the White Stripes on another post, I'd like to say they're full of shit. The White Sripes performance was awesome. Though Franz stole the show earlier on, of course.
The lineup in the boiler "room" wasn't that good this year, and the choice to have the boiler swamp as an outdoor stage was odd. Yes, swamp. The water spraying combined with actual dancing quickly tore up the ground near the front. On the bright side, having it outside was awesome after about 5, but beforehand, it was shit. Too hot, and few people. A shaded place to chill at the back was nice though. The trees and generally open area also allowed for some cool lighting effects after dark rather than just the same old coloured lights and screens showing weird shit at the front (which got a BSOD halfway through the 2Many DJs set, ha). Also the way it was positioned meant it wasn't too hard making your way to the front.
