“I’m sorry,” Harry whispered hoarsely, tears dripping slowly down his sunken cheeks. “I never meant this… Never meant things to turn out this way.”
Severus tapped his fingers against his pursed lips, staring into the fire and away from Harry; who was cowering at his feet.
“Please. I’ll never allow this to happen again.” Harry suddenly gripped his arm and Severus stiffened slightly.
“I think,” Severus paused and turned to looked down at Harry, the fire casting shadows over his blank face, “that another chance might be… Agreeable.”
He watched Harry’s faces as the words sank in. Severus smiled grimly.
