Hi,
I'm reviving this journal to be more than just a placeholder in order to comment and read other journals here.
I'll be using it for mainly two things:
a place to share 'interesting links' as inspired by
andrewducker 's great project. Most of it will be art/architecture/design related.
one place to post progress of my new goal of reading 'a good amount' of our books (by the end of my lifetime). by our books, I refer to the around 4000 books
heyokish and I have, which I have now moved 8 times. a good portion of the books have been purchased during our life together, and some I brought over from the states, but a heftier amount were already in her possession, and our collection she often refers to as her 'extended brain'.
With that in mind, I'm going to dive in and start reading, with only a few rules for myself at the start: review or write about each book read, try to pick a book not read before (but don't worry terribly about that), allow myself to be drawn down inspirational paths a book may take me, and use my commute to work for reading. I'll also be dipping into crates of ephemera, zines and comic books, and perhaps heyoka will be willing to sharewhat room of her extended brain the book i'm reading inhabits.
I'll be setting up a GoodReads account to track progress as well, and my old site gnarl.net will also be revived.
here's the books we've catalogued in our collection back in 2009.
wish me luck
