the OC meets intellegence
I was watching the OC episode from last week and one particular meeting during this show made me upset. It is where Summer meets that guys mom and sister and they are talking about the conflict in Kashmir and Summer takes it to be the material not the place, after which she is obsessed with catching up on the news and trying to become intellegent to impress her boyfriend. At first i was enraged becuase this was THE dumbest thing ever - the typical demographic of the OC doesn't give a flying fuck about Kashmir and probably only vaguely knows where it is and they probably don't know how significant that place is (there are exceptions to this rule but c'mon its the OC). she starts reading The Economist... who watching the OC knows what that is? -- 10pts if you can tell me where it is published.-- Her comment about slauterings in Haiti while trying to be deep and enlightening was comming from the backbooth in a night club. c'mon. anyways after thinking about it and why it made me angry it is not that they are trying to highlight important issues amongst the fucked up teenage angst going on.. but that - wait yes that is it - they are trying to show important things in the world but it is shadowed by what psycho disorder/type of manic depression marissa has. but now i think its kinda funny they tried to be smart. ah well better luck next time.
