I am such an idiot!
Y'know, for as many years as I have under my belt, one would think that I would be a bit smarter than I am sometimes. Now, in my defense, I left for work at 6:20 this morning, didn't get home from work until 6:45 this evening and I was just a bit beyond tired. But when I received the phone call at 7:00 p.m., asking for me by my maiden name (which I haven't used in 19 years and 8 months) only to have the gentleman tell me that I was being sued for an uncollected debt of $6,429.92 from a bank through which I'd never had an account, one would think the warning bells would be going off loud and clear. But nooooooo, what did I do?
Belived him. And panicked.
I have since calmed down. I have since spoken with much more rational minds than my own and they have prevailed. I plan to contact my state attorney general tomorrow and have already filed a complaint with the FBI.
