So
hp_nextgen_fest had their reveals last night! I found out that the amazing
hereticalvision wrote my gift fic,
Devour, which is a great NC-17 Ginny/Scorp fic. I knew somebody awesome had written it, but I honestly had no idea who. Now I get to be giddy over it all over again. :D She and I will take over the world with this pairing!
And so now I can reveal that I wrote two pieces for this awesome fest (which I'll repost here sometime later today or so):
A Summons to Foolish Blood, an NC-17 James/Albus incest fic
&
Where the Rift Mends, an NC-17 Ginny/Scorpius dealing with the death of Harry fic, which is 20,000 words of plot and sex.
Summons was an easy write in a lot of ways, because I knew the pairing I wanted to do, knew how I wanted it setup, and once I started writing it, the story came out very vividly. I like incest fics for a lot of reasons. If you read
bryoneybrynn's AMAZING
Bids Me Waver James/Al, you know that there are a plethora of ways to take this pairing and general incest pairings. I took the "it's all cool and look how smutty we can get!" route, and Bryoney took the more interesting "omg please don't let this end how I think it'll end!" route. ;) I love reading and writing both ways, but it's cool to see her take that path when I took the other. In other words, hers is brilliant, and everyone should read it if you haven't already. Seriously amazing stuff there.
Where the Rift Mends was...admittedly very hard to write for a number of reasons. Not least of all because it centers around Harry Potter's death and how various characters learn to deal with it. And my best friend's mother died as I was finishing it...so getting the last parts typed out and finished and turned in was both cathartic and difficult. I'm still not 100% pleased with this fic, but as it was a pinch hit, there was only so much time I had to get it finished. My original outline called for probably 30,000 more words. lol But
literaryspell talked me out of some of the end in favour of a more ambiguous and 'draw your own conclusions about their future' type of finale.
Yay for next gen! I always tend to write a lot for this fest, so hopefully that continues. ;)
