Summer was packing for her trip home for Christmas. Chris would be going with her and meeting her dad and her Newport friends. She was really trying not to fret and think too much about it.

( There were enough what-ifs floating in her mind... )

Chris looked over from where he was meticulously packing his bag.

"You okay, hon?"

"Huh?" Summer said, still distracted momentarily. "Oh, yeah. Just, you know, the holidays. They can be stressful."

Yes, he was nervous about meeting her dad.

"Awww, it'll be okay," Summer assured. "My dad is going to like you."

"I hope so," Chris said. "Do you want me to pack your presents or should I give them to you now?"

"Ooh, presents?" Summer said, perking up a bit. "I never say no to those."

Chris grinned. "I guess now then."

He unearthed two wrapped boxes from his closet and handed Summer the larger one first.

Summer took the box and happily unwrapped it. This was one of the best parts of the holidays, really. "Ooh, Chris, this is really nice. Good job!"

She had to congratulate him for that. In her experience, guy couldn't be trusted to pick out nice clothes. "Thank you."

Her reaction amused Chris. He probably wouldn't have done such a good job if he hadn't had free access to her closet.

"I hope you like this one as much," he said, handing her a smaller box.

"Awww, you know me so well," Summer grinned when she opened the second box. She leaned over to kiss him. "Thank you. I love it. And you."

"I got something for you, too," Summer said, reaching for a few boxes that were under her bed. She handed one of them to Chris.

Chris opened the box and chuckled. "Is this one of those gifts you buy for me and I share with you?"

"Well, if you feel so inclined," Summer said, smiling. "I also got something just for you."

She handed over the other wrapped gift, hoping he would like it.

"Oh, Summer, it's fantastic," Chris said, running his fingers over the leather cover.

She grinned and leaned over to kiss him one more time.
