Your main fandom of the year?
In terms of the amount of fic I've read, and posts I've looked at, I'm going to have to say bandom. I'm not active in it, but I definitely circle around it a lot. Maybe because I don't have an active TV or book fandom at the moment? IDK
Your favorite film watched this year?
I loved Inception, and Scott Pilgrim v the World, and I haven't seen several good ones that are out right now. But I'm going to go with How to Train Your Dragon, because it's awesome.
Your favorite book read this year?
Oooh, this one might be hard. Do I go with an older book that I reread? (I reread books more often than I read new ones, I think) Or do I go with the newest Dresden Files story? Or no, I know! Tanya Huff's Smoke and Shadows. It was lots of fun, and set me off on a little Tanya Huff book hunt while I read the rest of the series.
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
This one's not even a question, honestly. My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: the True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. And off of that, Planetary (Go!). I love the recorded version, but live? When you can feel the drums in your bones and the guitars set your skin buzzing? It's AMAZING. I swear, I can't sit still through if I try.
Honourable mentions might be Mumford & Sons, with their album Sigh No More. I love the way that album packs so much drama into a banjo, or just lets the guitars/drums/vocals build and build and build (like in this one, Thistle and Weeds)
Your favorite TV show of the year?
As I mentioned, I'm not really actively fannish with any particular TV show this year . . . but that doesn't stop me watching a bunch of them. White Collar and Hawaii 5-0 are pretty strong contenders, but I've got to go with Doctor Who (Rory and Amy and Eleven with the bow-tie! So adorkable. ♥ )
Your favorite DW LJ community of the year?
I'm going to go with tothetune , for letting me find cool interviews and lovely concert pictures.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Maybe Hawaii 5-0? Not so much for the porn (there is lots and LOTS of porn out there for this one) but for all the happy squee and pretty screen caps, and the episodes themselves, which are pretty fun. This might be my go-to popcorn show for a while.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Probably that there's been no real TV fandom for me -- I think I'm holding out for a really good sci-fi drama, and it seems most new sci-fi shows either end up going for the "gritty" (depressing) thing, a la BSG or SGU, or the lighthearted ridiculous thing like Eureka or Warehouse 13. Where are the ones with a good balance of the two, like Babylon 5 or Farscape? :(
Your TV boyfriend of the year?
I am very fond of Rory. Also Peter on White Collar, but he's very very married. Esposito on Castle, I <3 him.
Your TV girlfriend of the year?
I quite like Kono on H50. Also Becket on Castle is awesome.
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Rory showing up as a Roman Centurion! I was so glad they didn't kill him off after all!
The most missed of your old fandoms?
I kinda miss the awesomeness that was SGA fandom when I first stumbled into it. But I think I miss a really active Merlin fandom more. (not that either fandom is dead at all, but my corners of them are very quiet.)
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
I still haven't seen Sherlock -- I think the scarcity of material makes me a little leary. But I'd probably like it, so . . .
Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
I'm planning on writing more -- some sort of regular schedule of shorter fic, I think, in a variety of fandoms. I seem to be more comfortable with the under 7k sort of thing. But there's also this really long fic that I keep making notes for -- can't say I've really started it yet, but it's building, and I'm sorta excited about it.
Also! There will be new White Collar! And a bunch of other shows! And if they're still on schedule, there should be new Primeval! \o/
