Chiefs v Jaguars

Forgive me while I rant.

We've got less than a quarter to go and we're down by 17!  Few years ago, and I would have laughed -- no problem, not with that high flying offense.  But now . . . we're getting shut out!  In ARROWHEAD! The fans are walking out of the sullen, silent stadium.  How utterly frustrating.

And it's most frustrating because we have so many STARS on our team.  Yeah, the offense is struggling (obviously) but Gonzalez still looks looks like the probowler he patently is.  Bowe looks like a rising star -- why did Huard wait so long to hit the rookie with the ball?  And Johnson -- Johnson should be a star, but today, he's gotten shut down at every turn.

My defense, I'm loving my defense -- Allen, Law, Hali and Edwards -- they try so hard, and they are so good, but (and forgive the caps, but I must yell) YOU CAN'T MAKE THE DEFENSE DO ALL THE WORK.  Exspecially when you're trying to play catch up.

And now Croyle's on the field, and I'm glad to see him, but that's a harsh way to go on the field (due to an injury, and trailing by 17 in the last quarter).  No pressure, kid.  But you really need to score.

(And in other news -- poor Green, down in Miami!  His poor head . . . .)

Now, back to the game, as the rain starts to pour down on my struggling team -- to grit my teeth and clench my fists and growl : this is my team!  I can't stand to see this happen to my team!  It's demoralizing and heartbreaking but don't you dare give up!  The season's still early!  You put your head down, you forge on.  You are the CHIEFS -- don't let them count you out yet!

__________

and now its over -- but man, Croyle took 'em out swinging!  And with that last second touchdown, with only the die hard fans in the rain drenched stands,  he staved off a shutout and won my team back some self respect.  I love my team.  I love my team.  I love my team.  Even in defeat -- and this last drive is exactly why.
