Why are there so many songs about rainbows?
You guys, you guys, I am so tired! And happy. I am really truly happy. It's been a good day.
My friends and I went to see the Muppets! And, you know, I grew up with the
Muppets, in one form or another, and with Fraggle Rock, and Jim Hensen was important to my childhood. So I was really really hoping this new movie wouldn't suck.
And it didn't Not at all! It was earnest and sweet and funny and everybody was having such a good time with it, you could tell! I cried, more than once! And at least half the time it was joy that had me tearing up. I can't remember the last movie that made me feel that way. That damn Rainbow Connection performance made me bawl, and I couldn't stop smiling.
It's the Muppets. Hi there, Kermit and Piggy and Gonzo and Fozzie Bear! Hi there Electric Mayhem Band! I missed you!
And then we came back to my apartment, and ordered pizza, and popped in the first disc of the second season of the original Muppet Show, and then we watched about nine hours of that mad wonderfulness, as we talked and laughed and ate pizza, and drank beer, and baked cookies and played guitar, and fell asleep on the couch, or the floor, or eachother.
