Now, what with Herm's track record, I was expecting a slow start to the season. I was expecting some problems, as the roster shakes itself into shape. So, no, I'm not shocked that we didn't win our season opener.
Doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.
I like Huard, I really do -- he really stepped up for us last season while Green was on the bench -- but he struggled today. Not that it's all on him, oh no. The recievers looked sloppy half the time, and Huard didn't get all of the protection he needed from the line. He's a solid quarterback -- but he's not all that inspiring.
On a brighter note, our defense looked much better than they have been in the past -- our only chance to score came out a defensive play. And most of the points we gave up came out of offensive turnovers. So, good job, defense.
And I'll admit, the Texans looked good today -- they played really well.
But I'm going to say this. Watch the Chiefs. Give us a few more games under our belt, with this loss eating at us. Give the young players with something to prove a little time to prove it. Let Herm's slow starting style rev up.
Play us in Arrowhead, with the deafening roar of a red sea in the stands.
Season's only just started. Don't underestimate my team.
