“Carter, need a lift?” Nathan called out.
“Aren’t you going to your fancy Nobel laureates’ dinner?” Jack turned around, cocking an eyebrow at his tux.
Zoe was spending the summer in L.A. with her mother and Jack’s smile hadn’t reached his eyes in days. That spoke volumes to Nathan.
‘I’m not that hungry,” he shrugged lightly.
“Hms…game’s on. Do you think Vincent will make us a couple cheeseburgers?” Jack asked as he climbed in.
“You do him that on purpose,” Nathan observed, shaking his head as Jack replied, “I just like cheeseburgers!” …and there was that smile.
Science could wait.
