I decided last week to start watching Orphan Black. I've heard (almost) nothing but good things about it and I was curious to see what the hype was about. Also, I was out of Devious Maids so there was an opening in my current show line-up.
I finished the first season just a little while ago. This show is not what I expected. At all. Aside from the fact that there are clones, that is. That I expected and that I got. Beyond that? No. All the little gif sets on tumblr kind of lied and kind of told the truth, but I saw the wrong thing, I guess.
So it's kind of fascinating to see a scene play out that I saw in gif form and see how it really went as opposed to just this tiny sliver out of context. I also like the pinging back and forth between loving a character and wanting to wring their neck and then back again.
The only real downside is that any time Helena shows up on screen, I hear the ex screaming, "Dammit, Ghost!" at the end of Ginger Snaps 2. Usually once I acknowledge something like that, my brain stops, but this loop is never ending and it's kind of driving me insane.
Which, when you consider the sources, is probably fitting.
I want to geek out with someone over this but I'm also what, like five episodes behind? Soooo... get caught up, then geek out?
Went to the pool today. Widget hopped out of the pool after about five minutes. Alas, it was the day I'd decided to be brave and say to hell with there being anyone else at the pool. Mainly because I thought it was the guy who was sunning himself and that once we got there he'd leave. Instead it was three younger people and they just would not stop drinking or talking but wouldn't leave or get in the pool.
Soooooo, paranoia kicks in and you're thinking, "They're judging me. Juuuuuuuudging me." And the rational part of your brain says, "So what?" but the irrational side is so much louder and makes so much more sense at the time.
So I stuck it out in the deep end and didn't flail about as much as I normally would, but tried to enjoy the fact that hello, it's a pool.
