Another Public Service AnnouncementAs you can probably tell, I've been doing a lot fo planting outside the Pentamerone lately - tis the season and all that. I'm going to be pretty much occupied with that for at least the next two weeks as I move plants out of the greenhouse and back to their appropriate locations and plant the annuals and I ( Read more... )

[After a few seconds recovering from John's reaction, which he found highly amusing] I'd actually like to hear what you're doing with the gardens. My mom brought a metric shitload of stuff up from Arkansas (which means some of them will probably die once they realize they're not in their home zone), I'd be happy to share. I don't know where I'm going to put half of this stuff. And of course there's cuttings and seeds to be had once the season wears on.

Oh really?

[Private to Luke] (Because she's afraid Bob would be mad at her for talking with the enemy. But at the same time: garden!)
What kinds of things do you have? I'm going with some flowering shrubs up by the walk and I was thinking of making beds around some of the trees, especially in the back. Dotty loved begonias, so I'm going to be planting some of those by the fountain.

Do you have any Queen Anne's Lace? And if you need a place to store the plants, I've got some space in the greenhouse and I wouldn't mind housing them for you in exchange for some cuttings?

Why are we locking this? Are plants that secret? I do, actually. Let me just give you a list, you can tell me what you're interested in. Hibiscus, spirea, oxalis, violets, lantana (purple, white, yellow), althea, zinnia seeds, sweet alyssum, algerian ivy, amaranthus, clematis, obedient plant, salvia, larkspur, hollyhock, yellow archangel (gonna have to pot that one to keep it in bounds), and a bunch of vegetables and herbs.

... Marry me? I haven't been able to find any lantana around here - I was actually thinking of trying a butterfly garden this year in the corner opposite the pond. And I'm always looking for more stuff in the vegetable patch. Oh, an Zinnia! And the Algerian ivy might do well potted in Anser's office - I'm looking for something he can't easily kill this time around.

So uh, basically I'll take anything you can part with, I guess? I've got an actual garden budget this year so I can pay you for them - we can work out the details later, I figure. Did you want help moving them? I can ask Bo John.

Don't worry about paying me for them - just share future plant-babies with other people. The botanical way of paying it forward, see. It all comes 'round. Give me a couple of weeks to get things together and I'll drop 'em by the Pen with whoever's on duty at the moment.
