I'm too exhausted from lack of sleep to do much more than a brief summary of my last few days. Damn cats sleep all day and then play tag across my head at 3 in the morning. The cheap matress (company furnished apartment) does nothing to help either. No spring and as stiff as a board. I might as well sleep on the floor. Except then, I'll be even more of a target for random feline assult strategy.
  • Met up with Shelly for lunch on Saturday. She wanted to take me out to Harbour town but it was bucketing down with rain so we just drove to Marion (a Westfield). It took us about 20 minutes to find a park. Lunch consisted of a freaking huge pasta meal. Apparently it was entree size but neither of us was able to finish more than half. I had a good time though. Which was nice as last time I was here we didn't get to chat much due to deafening bad hip hop and commercialised dance.
  • Yesterday I was taken out for Yum Cha by Tony, a friend of my dad's from work, and his wife Ivy. They're complete opposites. She's Chinese and strikes me as very high maintenance, while he's very much the loud Aussie country boy. He dotes on her though, and they're both great people. I love yum cha. Chickens feet take a bit of getting used to though.
  • Sunday evening I finally went for that walk around Glenelg to see what the night life is like. Seems the Variety Bash is in town so many of the pubs were full. I, however, would have felt a fool if I'd gone in, sat down and had a lone drink by myself. That and I already have free alcohol at home, so after having a brief look at some of the enthusiastically decorated cars I just walked back.
  • Today I've felt completely run down. However, the brief social interaction I had on the weekend helped my mood immensely. Did more cooking, which wasn't entirely successful (Kedgeree or Fish Dish as it's more colliquiolly known among family - damn rice wasn't cooked), and received a call from Linda, a Canadian neighbour, who wanted to invite me over for dinner.
The remainder of my time has been spent ploughing my way through my mum's bookshelf. I'm currently reading Bridge of Souls, third in the Quickening Series by Fiona McIntosh, and Molvania: A land untouched by modern dentistry by Santo Ciluaro, Tom Gleisner and Rob Sitch.
