Delicious Foodage

I love how everything is within a two minute walk here. The fridge is too small to stock much food long term, which means I have to go and shop for my meals every day. This took a bit of getting used to, but I like how it forces me to get out and about each day. Maybe I'll work myself up to longer walks and see if I can get myself fit in the process. Maybe.

I've spent a substantial portion of my time pouring over my mum's cookbooks, so I've decided to convert my thwarted breakfast into a delicious desert. Breakfast was going to be "Sweet Baked Ricotta with Honeyed Figs". However, as I haven't found any but the dried fig variety, I'm going to poach a selection of dried fruit in Amaretto. The original recipe requries Musacto d'Asti which I've never heard of, given my limited experience with wine, but I assume is some type of muscat or fortified wine. Unfortuatnely, despite my dad's skills at aquiring vast quantities of wine, all that I've been able to find here is a desert Riesling. Which, now that I think about it might not be a bad compromise at all. I guess I'll just have to make two batches then ;)

"So Frenchy, So Chic" has become my Adelaide soundtrack. It's a compilation of french artists that has been released as "The Unofficial Soundtrack to the French Film Festival". It really is quite a gorgeous CD. Thanks Magda ;) Unfortunately, living in a townhouse arangement necessitates the volume set to 'low'. Ah well, que sera sera.
